Who are We?

The NOC Sri Lanka Athletes’ Commission is a body appointed by the NOC Sri Lanka and athletes in the country to represent the athletes from Sri Lanka. The Commission is affiliated to the International Olympic Committee’s Athletes Commission and NOC Sri Lanka. The mission of the Commission is to represent the views of the athletes and make athletes’ voice heard.
We are a five-member committee consist of three Olympians and two international level athletes. They are elected by the fellow athletes in the country for a term of four years. Elected Commission members also serve as NOC members and the Chair is a member of the NOC Sri Lanka’s Executive Board.
The Commission is represented the NOC Sri Lanka General Assembly by two of its members, elected by the Commission from the athletes who have taken part in at least one of the last three editions of the Olympic Games. Also, they will have the right to vote within the General Assembly, as per Article 5.1 (d) of the NOC Sri Lanka Constitution.
The Commission is represented within the NOC Sri Lanka Executive Board by at least one member who have taken part in at least one of the last three editions of the Olympic Games, elected by the Commission and approved by the NOC Sri Lanka General Assembly, who will have the right to vote within the Executive Board, as per Article 16.1 (h) of the NOC Sri Lanka Constitution. This person must be a member of the Commission who has been elected to the Commission by his or her peers.
Our Strategy for Success
Our mission is to represent the views of the athletes and make their voice heard within the NOC Sri Lanka.
Our Objective
1. Consider issues related to athletes and provide advice to the NOC Sri Lanka;
2. Engage actively with initiatives and projects that protect and support clean athletes on and off the field of play;
3. Represent the rights and interests of athletes and make related recommendations, including the appointment of arbitrators to the International Council of Arbitration for Sport;
4. Maintain contact with the IOC Athletes’ Commission.
During the term of every Athletes’ Commission, below activities will be enabled.
1. Creating anti-doping awareness programs to empower athletes
2. Athletes’ education and career development
3. Healthy habits and healthy body image
4. Developing policies and athlete code of conduct
5. Safeguarding: awareness programmes on prevention of Sexual Harassment and Abuse, and Competition Manipulation

Our goal is to make sure the viewpoint of athletes is represented in all Olympic Movement stakeholders
- Ensure Athlete Representation in Olympic Movement decision-making.
- Promote Athlete Involvement in decision-making across the Olympic Movement
How We Work
Work closely with IOC and IOC Athletes’ Commission hand in hand to accomplish our priorities as the athletes’ commission of Sri Lanka and contribute to the Olympic movement.
