Team Sri Lanka

Viren Nettasinghe is an exceptional player who has dedicated his life to badminton and is currently competing in the Olympics, making his motherland, Sri Lanka, proud. He is the youngest Sri Lankan Olympic badminton player and the youngest to directly qualify for the Olympics.
Today marked the start of the Paris Olympic badminton matches, and Sri Lankan player Viren Nettasinghe played his first match against the formidable Malaysian player Lee Zii Jia under group G. Lee, who won the All England Open in 2021, has consistently been ranked among the top players in the world. His high skill level, competitive edge, and powerful smashes made him a tough opponent for Nettasinghe.
Despite a valiant effort and a magnificent performance from Nettasinghe, he unfortunately lost the match to Lee Zii Jia.
The players put on an incredible display of rallies and tactical plays in an exciting badminton encounter. The match ended with a huge gap in score of 21-14, 21-12. Lee won all of his matches, therefore the third match was called off.
Despite Lee's world ranking of 7th and Viren's 70th in the Badminton World Federation, Viren showed tremendous commitment and gave his best towards the match.
