The highly anticipated international archery training program, conducted by the world-renowned coach Kim Hyung Tak, which took place at the Sri Lanka Olympic House Auditorium was successfully completed on 19-21, and 23 of November, 2024 Hosted by the Arrow Dynamics Sports Academy, in collaboration with the National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka and the Sri Lankan Archery Association, the program was held in preparation for the upcoming Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games.
Coach Kim Hyung Tak, a leading figure in the world of archery, brought with him a wealth of experience spanning over 40 years. His impressive career includes developing numerous Olympic and world medalists and he is most famous for guiding South Korea to its first Olympic gold medal in archery at the Los Angeles 1984 Olympic Games. Under his mentorship, archery in Korea has evolved into the powerhouse it is today.
The training program, which took place over several days, included level 1, level 2, and level 3 archery coaching courses. These courses provided participants with a deep dive into both the technical and mental aspects of the sport. In addition, Coach Kim held a special training session for young archers, during which he shared valuable insights with the next generation of athletes.
The event saw a strong turnout of archers and coaches from across the country, all eager to benefit from Coach Kim’s expertise and guidance. His methods, known for their precision and effectiveness, left a lasting impact on all participants, who expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to learn from one of the best in the field.
This training program marks a significant step towards strengthening Sri Lanka’s archery talent in the lead-up to the 2026 Youth Olympic Games. With the success of this program, the Arrow Dynamics Sports Academy is committed to furthering the development of archery in Sri Lanka, ensuring that the country is well-prepared for the upcoming global sporting events.
The National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka (NOC SL) was inaugurated on 8th April 1937 at a meeting of representatives of Athletic, Swimming and Boxing Associations. As resolved on this day, the first meeting of the Ceylon Olympic and Empire Games Association was held on 30th April 1937.
