IOC Certificate in Mental Health in Elite Sport (1 Year)
The NOC Sri Lanka is delighted to announce that Dr. K P A Rukmal Karunanayake, esteemed Sports Medical Officer at the Institute of Sports Medicine and Team Physician for the National Women’s Cricket Team, has been selected to undertake the prestigious IOC Diploma in Mental Health in Elite Sport. This intensive one-year course, offered by Sportsoracle, aims to enhance expertise in mental health strategies tailored for elite athletes. Dr. Karunanayake’s participation underscores Sri Lanka's commitment to advancing sports medicine and athlete well-being. We congratulate him on this significant achievement and look forward to the invaluable insights and advancements he will bring to our sporting community.
IOC Certificate in Drugs in Sport
We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Hashan Amarathunga, Team Sport Nutrition Physician for the Sri Lanka Cricket Team and the Sri Lanka Army Women's Hockey Team, has been selected to pursue the IOC Diploma in Drugs in Sports, offered by Sportsoracle. Dr. Amarathunga is also a Senior Registrar in Clinical Nutrition at the National Hospital Colombo. This course aims to deepen knowledge on anti-doping regulations and drug use in sports. His participation highlights Sri Lanka's dedication to promoting integrity and excellence in sports. We extend our congratulations to Dr. Amarathunga and eagerly anticipate the positive impact his new expertise will bring to our sporting community.

The National Olympic Committee Sri Lanka (NOC Sri Lanka) is excited to announce that two of our dedicated staff members, Ms. Kaushalya Danthanarayana and Ms. Hiruni Munasinghe, have been selected to undertake the prestigious IOC Certificate: Safeguarding Officer in Sport. Ms. Danthanarayana, our Deputy Manager Olympic Solidarity Relations, and Ms. Munasinghe, our Senior Executive in International Relations, both play crucial roles in supporting athletes and officials. This advanced certification will enhance their skills in safeguarding practices, ensuring a safer and more supportive environment for our sporting community. Their selection underscores our ongoing commitment to athlete welfare and excellence in sports management.

The National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka (NOC SL) was inaugurated on 8th April 1937 at a meeting of representatives of Athletic, Swimming and Boxing Associations. As resolved on this day, the first meeting of the Ceylon Olympic and Empire Games Association was held on 30th April 1937.
