National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka and Sri Lanka Anti-Doping Agency promote Physical Fitness through the Spirit of Olympism and Clean Sport

The National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka (NOC SL) and the Sri Lanka Anti-Doping Agency (SLADA) came together on November 12, 2024, for a spirited day of friendly competition and teamwork. Held at Torrington Grounds, Colombo 07, this event celebrated physical fitness, Olympism, and clean sport.

 

In two thrilling 10-over cricket matches, each team of 7 men and 4 women gave their all. 

 

Match 1: NOC SL chased down SLADA’s score of 97/7, winning by six wickets with stellar contributions from Niluka Karunarathna (24 runs), Gobinath Sivarajah (20 runs), and Yuresh Maduranga (16 runs).

 

Match 2: SLADA claimed victory, surpassing NOC SL’s score of 54/11, with Dharshana Thilakarathna leading the chase, scoring 23 runs.

 

SLADA emerged as the champions based on the overall run rate of the Sports Fiest 2024, with individual awards going to: 

Best Batsman- Darshana Thilakarathne (SLADA)

Best Bowler- Tharindu Dhananjaya (SLADA)

Best Fielder: A.G.L.K.S. Gunawardana (SLADA)

Best Female Player: Chalani Dayarathne (NOC SL)

The National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka (NOC SL) was inaugurated on 8th April 1937 at a meeting of representatives of Athletic, Swimming and Boxing Associations. As resolved on this day, the first meeting of the Ceylon Olympic and Empire Games Association was held on 30th April 1937.
