Call for Applications: 32nd International Seminar on Olympic Studies for Postgraduate Students - Ancient Olympia, Greece

The International Olympic Academy (IOA) invites passionate postgraduate students from around the world to apply for the 32nd International Seminar on Olympic Studies for Postgraduate Students, taking place from September 19 to October 11, 2025, at the historic IOA premises in Ancient Olympia, Greece.

This prestigious annual seminar offers a unique academic platform to explore the core pillars of Olympic Studies:


    ' The History of Sport in Antiquity

    ' The Olympic Movement and the Modern Olympic Games

    ' Philosophy and Ethics of Sport

This year’s special theme is: “Olympic Movement and AI: Opportunities and Challenges”

Guided by leading professors and Olympic scholars from across the globe, participants will engage in in-depth discussions on Olympic values, heritage, and modern challenges. Each student is expected to submit and present a research paper during the seminar, which will be published in the official IOA proceedings.

In addition to academic sessions, students will enjoy a rich cultural program featuring guided visits to historical landmarks in Athens, Delphi, Epidaurus, Nemea, Isthmia, and an overnight stay in Nafplion, offering a profound cultural and educational experience.

    ' Venue: International Olympic Academy, Ancient Olympia, Greece

    ' Participation Fee: €1,580 per student (Covers accommodation, local transport, meals, and entry to archaeological sites)

    ' IOA Application Deadline: 15th July 2025

    ' NOC Sri Lanka Deadline: 4th July 2025

 

Olympic Solidarity Scholarship Applicants (via NOC Sri Lanka):

Students wishing to apply for support through the Olympic Solidarity Scholarship must submit the following documents on or before 4th July 2025, either via email (education@olympic.lk) or by post to the Secretary General, "Sri Lanka Olympic House", Independence Avenue, Colombo 7.

        ' Updated Resume/CV

        ' Passport-size Photograph

        ' Recommendation Letter from Supervisor of the university

        ' Motivation Letter

        ' Proposed Olympic Research Topic and Abstract

        ' Copy of Passport

        ' Applicant must be currently enrolled in a postgraduate degree program at a recognized university.

        ' Completion of NOC Sri Lanka's Sport Administrators and/or Advanced Sport Management Course (ASMC) (optional but advantageous)

        ' Certificate of Sport-Related Achievements

 

Candidates are expected to be physically present for the interview. The specific date will be announced once the application submission period has closed.

The National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka (NOC SL) was inaugurated on 8th April 1937 at a meeting of representatives of Athletic, Swimming and Boxing Associations. As resolved on this day, the first meeting of the Ceylon Olympic and Empire Games Association was held on 30th April 1937.
