Nimali won the Gold medal at the Asian Championship in 2017 and in South Asian Games in 2016 in her pet event of 800m. She won the Asian Indoor Athletics silver medal in Qatar in 2016 also a silver medalist in the 4x400 relay at the South Asian Games in 2016. She is the unbeaten national ace runner from 2013 – 2018 in the island and her personal best stands at 2.02.58.
