The history of the International Olympic Day can be traced back to 1948 when the International Olympic Committee accepted the proposal to celebrate this day. As a result, the first Olympic Day was celebrated on 23 June 1948.
International Olympic Day is a significant event dedicated to honoring sports and cherishing inclusive participation in sports. This day serves as a reminder of how sports and other social activities may bring people together. The day is observed globally to raise awareness of the Olympic Movement and to motivate an increasing number of individuals to compete in the Olympics. Athletes and Sports enthusiasts from various countries engage in diverse activities such as runs, art and cultural competitions, Exhibitions, and educational workshops to commemorate this day.
o The deadline for TikTok submission and posting it on your own social media is 10 June 2024.
o The winner of the competition shall be announced on 13 June 2024.
o The judges’ decision will be final and no appeal will be entertained.
o All the participants will be awarded an e-certificate.
• Create your TikTok video to promote one of the Olympic Value of “Friendship” by composing a creative TikTok expressing “Building bonds through sports”
• The length of your video should not exceed more than 40 seconds.
• The video can be recorded in any of three languages: Sinhala, Tamil or English
• The video can be created individually or as a team.
• An individual can submit only one video for the competition.
• Ensure your TikTok account is set to public so that your submission is visible to all.
• Include the official competition hashtag in the caption of your video. The official hashtag for the competition shall be #NOCSriLanka and #OlympicDay
• Your video should be tagged to @teamsrilanka
• Use of sound and other property with copyright issues must be properly credited.
• Make sure your video adheres to TikTok’s community guidelines and terms of service.
• Once your video is posted with the competition hashtag, it will be automatically entered into the competition.
• However, it is mandatory to submit your video via WhatsApp at +94-76-097-0124 on or before the submission deadline.
The National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka (NOC SL) was inaugurated on 8th April 1937 at a meeting of representatives of Athletic, Swimming and Boxing Associations. As resolved on this day, the first meeting of the Ceylon Olympic and Empire Games Association was held on 30th April 1937.
